A Brief History

Situated in New Ross, County Wexford is The Ros Tapestry, an incredible series of embroidered tapestries. It tells the history of the Norman invasion of Ireland and the founding of New Ross by William Marshal and his wife, Isabel de Clare, in the 13th century. The project began in 1998 and involves 15 intricately hand-stitched panels, each illustrating a key moment in Ireland’s medieval past.

The panels were designed by renowned artists and brought to life by volunteer embroiderers, making the Ros Tapestry a unique local community-driven project.
