Sports & deep tissue massage

Who it suits

Sports massage is hands-on work on tight, sore or tired muscles. It suits people who train or play sport, and anyone whose body is feeling the effects of work, driving or lifting. You do not need to be injured, and you do not need to be an athlete.

Deep tissue massage uses slower, firmer pressure on deeper layers of muscle. It suits tension that has built up from a busy week at work or in the gym.

Not sure which? Tell your therapist what you want from the session and they will shape it to you.

Wellbeing massage

Wellbeing massage is slower and calmer. It is for time to switch off, ease the stress of a busy life and feel looser. You can choose a full body Swedish massage, a shorter treatment for the area that needs it, an Indian head massage or a scalp oiling.

Weronika also runs Serene Beauty Studio at the clinic.

Pregnancy massage

Who it suits

Pregnancy brings new aches, tension and tiredness. A pregnancy massage is tailored to where you are and how your body is changing, from the early weeks through to your third trimester and beyond. Supported positioning keeps you comfortable.

Kieran screens for symptoms that need a GP or further medical investigation and will tell you if you should see one first. If you have any concern about your pregnancy, check with your midwife or GP before you book.

Who gives your massage

Looking for Thai massage in New Ross?

What is Thai massage?

Traditional Thai massage is a bodywork style from Thailand. You usually stay fully clothed and lie on a mat on the floor. There is normally no oil. The therapist uses their hands, thumbs, forearms and sometimes their feet to press along the body, and guides you through slow, assisted stretches. Many people describe it as a bit like having someone do yoga stretches with you.

Why people look for it

People often ask for Thai massage when they feel stiff, tight or restricted, or when they want a firm, full body session that also loosens the joints and muscles.

We do not offer Thai massage

We do not offer traditional Thai massage at Just One Body. If you like a firm, full body treatment, try our deep tissue or sports massage. Both use firm pressure on tight muscles, and sports massage can include stretching and movement work. For a calm, relaxing session, try our Swedish massage. Tell your therapist what you want from the session and they will shape it to you.

04 / Questions

Common questions about massage

How much is a massage?

Sports and deep tissue massage is €60 for 60 minutes, €45 for 45 minutes and €30 for 30 minutes. Wellbeing massage starts at €30. Pregnancy massage is €70 for 60 minutes and €55 for 45 minutes. Packages of three or six sessions save you 10 to 15%. See the full price list.

What is the difference between sports and deep tissue massage?

The techniques are very similar. Sports massage is often used around training and events, to help you prepare and recover. Deep tissue massage works more slowly and firmly on deeper muscle, and suits tension from a busy week. Either can loosen tight muscles, so tell your therapist what you want from the session.

Do I need to be injured to book a sports massage?

No. You do not need an injury or to play sport. If you do have an injury, nerve symptoms (such as pins and needles), spasms or swelling, it is better to see one of our osteopaths first, as they can assess what is going on and plan your recovery.

Is pregnancy massage safe, and from what stage?

Pregnancy massage is safe when it is given by a skilled professional. Kieran is trained to recognise signs that need medical attention and screens for them at each appointment. You can book from any stage of pregnancy, from the early weeks to your third trimester and beyond. If you have any concern about your pregnancy, check with your midwife or GP first.

Do you offer Thai massage?

No, we do not offer traditional Thai massage. For a firm, full body treatment try deep tissue or sports massage. For a calm, relaxing session try Swedish massage.

Can I claim massage on health insurance?

Some health insurance policies accept massage receipts. We give you a receipt after your appointment. Check your policy, or ask your insurer, before you book.
